Name and Love
Amarië was an Elf-maid of the Vanyar, the beloved of Finrod Felagund; when the Noldor went into exile she was held back from following (for the Vanyar would not let her go with them), and Finrod, loving her, abandoned his quest before the doom of his house.
Memory
Her memory went with Finrod even to the far lands of Middle-earth; the old lays tell that in the darkness of Tol-in-Gaurhoth the thought of her sustained the prince, and that after his death and re-embodiment in Valinor the two were at last rejoined in felicity.
