The Waste
Anfauglith (the Dust-desert) was Beleriand’s northern plain after its ruin: the green Ard-galen of old, burned black and a-blast by the floods of fire in the Dagor Bragollach, and thereafter called Dor-nu-Fauglith, the land under the shadow of Thangorodrim.
The Later Wars
Across its empty face the great armies passed in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, dust rising beneath their feet; here Huan and Lúthien fought Carcharoth at the gates, and the place remained a vast and bitter recollection of the broken age.
