The Book of Lost Tales, Part Two is the second volume of the earliest form of the legendarium, continuing the ‘lost tales’ of the Elder Days — the fall of Gondolin, the tale of Eärendil, Tuor, and the leavings of the Elves — set in the frame of the wanderer Eriol and the Cottage of Lost Play.
Their Import
With its companion (vol. 1) it preserves the very first seeds of the mythology that became the Silmarillion, and Christopher Tolkien’s commentary shows the growth of the great tales in the making.
