The Nature of Middle-earth (2021) gathers the late and mostly unpublished essays of J.R.R. Tolkien on the making of the world - the shape and measures of Arda, the growth of the lands and the evolution of the bodies, the rebirth of the Elves, the ages and the years of the Valar - edited with notes by Carl F. Hostetter.
Its Matter
It is the deepest of the cosmological corpora: the dimensions and the shaping of the continents, the fëa and hröa (spirit and body) of Elves and Men, the swiftness and the seasons of the years, and the nature of the metaphysical powers of the Valar and the Istari.
