The Siege
The Siege of Angband was the long blockade of the Enemy’s fortress in the years after Dagor Aglareb — for almost four hundred years the Noldor ringed Thangorodrim with their watch and their camps, and the Orcs dared not come forth; the limits of Beleriand were guarded under the peace of the watch.
The Breaking
The leaguer was broken in the Dagor Bragollach, when flames burst from the mountains and the watch was overwhelmed in a day; the age of the great wars followed, and the siege was remembered as the last long peace of the North.
