The Watch
Tol Sirion was the fortified isle set in the Sirion at the northern pass, where the mighty tower of Minas Tirith was raised by Fingon to guard the way against Morgoth; from its battlements the watch of the North-kingdoms peered into the shadow.
The Fall
After the Dagor Bragollach the isle was taken by Sauron, the tower darkening under his mastery, and its name became Tol-in-Gaurhoth — the isle of the werewolves — until Finrod and Beren were rescued from its pits by Lúthien’s arts.
