the daughter of Finwë and Indis; the elder sister of Fingolfin and Finarfin
Lineage
Findis was the eldest daughter of Finwë and Indis — the full sister of Fingolfin, Finarfin and Lalwen — born in Valinor in the years before the stirring of Melkor’s evil. She is named in the later genealogies of the Noldor.
Life
Of her the histories tell little: she “remained in Valinor” when her brothers went into exile, "and she dwelt apart from the quarrels of the house of Fëanor, and no further record of her is given in the tale. Her name stands among the eldest of the daughters of the Noldor’s royal house who did not go out.
