Haudh-en-Nirnaeth
the Mound of the Tears; the other name of the Mound of the Slain
Names
Haudh-en-Nirnaeth, “the Mound of the Tears”, is the alternate name of the great grave-mound of the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, called in Sindarin also Haudh-en-Ndengin, the Mound of the Slain.
History
The mound that the Orcs heaped over the host of the fallen Elves and Men after the battle of unnumbered tears was given the name of the Mound of the Tears, for the weeping that was upon the land; it is the same hill, standing alone in the waste of Ard-galen. Under it lay Huor, and beside it Rían died upon the green.
