The Spring
Ivrin was the lake beneath the western face of the Ered Wethrin where the river Narog had its rising — a clear, cold pool among the high glens, famed for the purity of its waters and the brightness of their light in the days before the shadow grew.
The Darkening
The annals say that in the year of the Nirnaeth the lake of Ivrin was frozen and its waters became wan and dark with the grief of the great defeat, and that its remembered brightness was one of the sorrows of Beleriand.
