The Land

Nan-tathren lay in the south of the valley of the Sirion where that river spread and wandered among miles of grass and willow — a green and whispering land, softer than the ancient North, where the noise of water lightened the foot and the heart.

The Ease

There the fugitives of the Fall of Gondolin rested and were comforted by the cool of the stream, and there Tuor tarried with Idril and Eärendil before the tides of the sea bore them at last to the mouths of the river.
