Name and Reign

Tar-Atanamir the Unhappy was the thirteenth King of Númenor, the first of the Kings who spoke openly against the Doom of the Valar and resented the Ban and the brevity of mortal life. He reigned from S.A. 2029 to 2221, the longest of the lords.

The Beginning of the End

Under him the Kings divided from the Wise and drove the Faithful from the west; the shadow fell deeper, and the seed was laid of the Downfall, and his folly was that he would not forgo an hour of the high estate that his house had bought.
