The Fen
The Fens of Serech lay where the descending Rivil darkened into the waters of the Sirion at the northern gate of Beleriand — a reedy waste through which the trails of the North-lands came, and which the shadow of Dorthonion and of the Iron Mountains overcast.
The Passage
Armies and fugitives waded its pools in the wars of the North: the foe came down from the Gate of the Noldor through it in the Dagor Bragollach, and the broken remnants of the northern hosts sought refuge upon its skirts.
