The Haven

The Havens of Sirion were the great refuge of the remnant of the Exiles at the mouths of the great river, where the last of the Noldor and the Sindar gathered after the ruin of the elder kingdoms — a place of ships and of the hope of the sea.

Their End

From these havens Eärendil sailed his ship Vingilot, and here the sons of Fëanor made their terrible attack on the host of the haven, stealing the Silmaril from Elwing; the haven was wasted by rapine, and its people were carried off or scattered — the last light of the Eldar passed to the island of Balar and to the war.
