The Making
The Nine Rings were wrought for the kings of Men, the proud lords of mortal race whom Sauron drew to his service; for of all the peoples of the world, mortal Men were the readiest to his fingers, and those who wore them gained invisibility and long life, but step by step their spirits were drawn into the shadow.
The Nazgûl
The nine became ghosts ringed with terror — undying slaves of the One, the Ringwraiths, who served the Dark Lord till the Great Ring was unmade and their shadow was quenched in the fire of Doom.
