Names

The Ringwil is the name of the small stream that ran into the Narog at Nargothrond.

Geography

The Ringwil was a short, foaming river of West Beleriand. It flowed east through the hilly Taur-en-Faroth (the High Faroth) north of Nargothrond until it joined the river Narog (see The Narog).

History

At the point where the Ringwil met the Narog a secret door was built, the hidden gate of Nargothrond. Through this door Lúthien escaped from the halls when Celegorm and Curufin held her prisoner.
