The White Tree
the tree of the kings; the image of Telperion in Middle-earth
Definition
The White Tree (of Númenor and later of Gondor) descends from Telperion of Valinor: its seedling came from the isle of Tol Eressëa to Númenor, where it was the sign of the grace of the West; burnt (or cut) in the Shadow’s reign, its seed was carried by the Faithful (under Elendil) to Middle-earth — the covenant-tree of the kings.
