Galdor of Gondolin
a lord of Gondolin; of the House of the Tree of Gold
Name and Role
Galdor was a lord of Gondolin, in the oldest accounts the head of the House of the Tree of Gold, one of the twelve houses of the hidden city. In some lists a Galdor is named among the wardens of the great Fountain as well; whether this is the same Elf or a confusion with Ecthelion of the Fountain is not certain. He must be distinguished from Galdor of the House of Hador, the lord of Dor-lómin and father of Húrin, and from Galdor of the Grey Havens, the envoy of Círdan whom the tale meets again in the Third Age.
In the Fall
Galdor led his house in the defence of the city at its fall; beyond that lordship the texts record little of his deeds or his end.
