the chieftain of the Woses who guided the Rohirrim
Name and Deed
Ghan-buri-Ghan was the chieftain of the Woses, the shy and wild wood-folk of the dark Drúadan forest; when the Rohirrim came to the aid of Gondor, he took them by the secret paths through the wood, and his folk fell upon the watch of the Southrons, clearing the way to the Pelennor.
His Friendship
His bargain with the Riders - their aid and protection for his people for ever - was honoured after the war, and the Woses were left in peace in their woods; Ghan-buri-Ghan’s service is remembered as the turning of the war toward Gondor.
