Glamdring the Foe-hammer was an ancient Elvish blade that shone with a white light when Orcs drew near; Gandalf bore it from the trolls’ cave through all his wanderings, and it struck for the clearing of the Pass of the Goblin-gate and in the dark of Moria, where its brightness was the terror of the goblin-kin.
