The Annals of Beleriand are the two early chronicles of the First Age preserved in The History of Middle-earth — the Annals proper (in vol. 4) and the Later Annals of Beleriand (in vol. 5), drawn up year by year from the first chapters of the Quenta, and the seed of the published annals.
The Record
They hold the essential roll of the age — the battles, the deaths of kings, the comings of the Edain — in the dry and brief manner of true annals, and were the skeleton on which the finished Silmarillion was at last fleshed.
