The Grey Annals are the latest and fullest of the chronicles of the First Age, written in the years of the Valar and preserved in The History of Middle-earth, vol. 11; they rehearse the annals of the age in greater detail and were the primary record behind the finished Quenta Silmarillion.
Their Standing
Edited with commentary by Christopher Tolkien, they give the precise genealogy and chronology of the First Age, and record many particulars (the years of the Trees, the beginnings of Men) that the published book abridged.
