The Enchanted Isles (with the Shadowy Seas) were the isles of enchantment cast by the Valar before the ways of the West when Valinor was hidden: sea-mazes that trapped and drowsed the mariners who sought the Blessed Realm against the ban, ‘the isles that betray’.
