Name and Role

Aerin was a woman of Dor-lómin, a kinswoman of Húrin of the House of Hador. After the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, when the Easterlings overran Dor-lómin and took the lands of the Edain, she was forced into marriage with Brodda, a lord of the Easterlings, and dwelt unwilling in his hall.

Shelter of Tuor

The hall of Aerin became a refuge for Tuor when he was brought captive into Dor-lómin; hating her bondage, she aided his escape into the wilds, where he was taken up again by the Elves of the hills.

Her End

In the ending of the tale, when Húrin came again as a beggar to the land of his fathers, he entered the hall of Brodda and slew the Easterling in his wrath; and Aerin, in her grief and shame, perished in the burning of the hall. She is among the forgotten quiet ones of the tale, whose small mercies the legend quietly remembers.
