Definition
The Cirth are the runic script of the Sindar of Doriath, devised by the loremaster Daeron (hence ‘the Cirth of Daeron’): angular letters cut for stone and wood, in which the Runes of the Dwarves and later inscriptions descend. They are one of the two great Elvish scripts (with the Tengwar) and the earliest rune-lore of the mythology.
