The Fields of Cormallen
the green field in Ithilien where the Ring-bearers were honoured
The Field
The Fields of Cormallen were the green meadow-land of Ithilien by the great river, where the Host of the West made their camp after the battle of the Black Gate; there, in the days of the triumph, the Ring-bearers were given the laurel and the songs of praise of all the peoples.
The Honour
There Frodo and Samwise, arrayed in fair raiment, were set upon a high mound of turf and the minstrels sang of their deeds; the praises of the two hobbits that day were among the sweetest songs of the new age.
