The Halls
The Halls of Mandos are the great halls of the Doomsman Mandos in the uttermost West, where the fëar (the spirits) of the Elves who die go for a season, and whence at last they may be re-embodied; Men do not go thither, for their doom is beyond the world.
Their Use
To the Halls went the slain of the Noldor, awaiting the time of their release; the doom of the Exile was measured in their patience, and the halls were the keeping-place of the sorrows of the Elder Days, until the Last Battle and the ending of the world.
