Name and Kind

The Mouth of Sauron was the envoy sent from the Dark Tower at the parley before the Black Gate — a tall and terrible lord of the Black Númenóreans who had grown in the service of the Enemy; he was their lieutenant, learned in the ways of the Ring and of the torment of his master.

The Parley

He came with the challenge of Sauron, taunting the Captains of the West and holding before them the tokens that might break their spirit; but Aragorn unmasked his boasts, and when the battle was joined the Mouth of Sauron was the victim of the same end that awaited his master — and his heraldry of lies was nothing against the last stand.
