The Black Númenóreans
the King's Men of the havens; the lords of the South in Sauron's shadow
Name and History
The Black Númenóreans were the descendants of the King’s Men who had held the great Númenórean fortresses of Middle-earth when the island fell — chiefly the town of Umbar. They hated the Exiles (the Faithful of Elendil) with a bitter hate, and in the later age served Sauron, remembering with pride the dominion of their forefathers.
Later Days
Through the Wars of the Second and Third Ages those lords of the South held the Haradrim to their will; their line lingered in Umbar and stood against the Dúnedain of Gondor, and even their name was already black in the mouths of the West.
