Gondor
the Stone-land; the South-kingdom of the Dúnedain
Name and Story
Gondor — “the Land of Stone” — is the South-kingdom founded after the Drowning by Elendil and his sons (its southern capital the city that became Minas Tirith; the northern was Arnor): the great realm of the Dúnedain in Middle-earth, whose kings (heirs of Elendil) bore the White Tree and the palantíri; the Last Alliance fought under its lords’ banners. Its fuller history belongs to the later ages.
