The Kings of Gondor
the line of the South-kingdom from Elendil to Elessar
The Line
The Kings of Gondor were the heirs of Elendil and Isildur in the South-kingdom — the line of Anárion that ruled from Osgiliath and then from Minas Tirith through the long years of the Third Age (its list and the tale of the realms is recorded in Appendix A). The line failed with the last king, Eärnur, who went to his death in the challenge of the Witch-king.
The Restoration
After many centuries the kingship was lifted from the Stewards to the Heir of Isildur — Aragorn — who was crowned under his shadow name Elessar in the Fourth Age, and the White Tree bloomed again in the courts of the fountain.
