The Balchoth
the wagon-peoples of the South-east who assailed Gondor
Name and Host
The Balchoth were a fierce Easterling people who, in the middle years of the Third Age, drove the Northmen from the vales east of the Anduin and assailed the borders of Gondor in great wagon-hosts.
The Overthrow
Their power was broken at the Field of Celebrant (T.A. 2510) when Eorl the Young and the Éothéod came to the aid of Cirion and the Steward, and the Balchoth were swept into the Anduin - the deed that gave Rohan the plains of the Mark.
