The Field
The Field of Celebrant was the wide meadow between the rivers of the south plains, where the hosts of the East overran the army of Gondor (the Balchoth), and the empty country suffered the rout that drew the young Eorl to the aid of the Steward.
The Turning
In the victory of the plain, Eorl the Young rode down the East-folk with his riders, and Cirion the Steward in thankfulness granted the Riders the land of the Mark; the Field of Celebrant is thus the birthplace of Rohan in the annals of the Oath.
