the final defeat of the Wainriders by Gondor and the Éothéod
The Battle
The Battle of the Camp was the decisive battle of the Wainrider wars in T.A. 1944: when the main host of Gondor had been overwhelmed in the field, the captains of the southern army under Eärnil, joined by the horsemen of the Éothéod, fell suddenly upon the camp of the victors and swept the Wainriders into ruin.
Its Consequence
The victory won Gondor its respite, and the crowning of Eärnil as king followed in that same year of the great war.
