The Bearers

The Ring-bearers were the hobbits who bore the One Ring on the long road of the Quest: Frodo, the Ring-bearer proper who carried it from Hobbiton to the Fire; and Samwise, who bore it for a while when his master lay in the lairs of Cirith Ungol and carried it to the very mountain; earlier, Bilbo had carried it out of the Goblins’ caves and through the Riddle-game.

The End

To the Ring-bearers, the weight of the Ring’s wounding was beyond all healing of the world; and at the end of the age the three Ring-bearers of the elder days — including Galadriel and Gandalf, keepers of the Three — were borne to the Grey Havens and into the West on the last ship.
