Erkenbrand was the brave lord of the Westfold of the Mark, who held the Fords of Isen against the host of Isengard and fell back with his men into the gorge of Helm’s Deep, where he was beaten back to the last march.
The Turning
It was Erkenbrand’s remnant, joined by Gandalf the White upon the road, that came at dawn to the Battle of the Hornburg and fell upon the host of Saruman from the open field, driving the besiegers into the valley and the wood.
