The Land

The Ettenmoors were the tumbled and windswept heaths north-east of Rivendell — a land of grey fells and cold mists, feared by all travellers, where the trolls of the old stories wandered and hunters lost their way.

In the Tales

In the tales of the travellers the Company passed near its borders with care; the wild folk of the North avoided the moors, and only the Rangers walked among their stones and mists.
