The Misty Mountains
Name and Place
The Misty Mountains (Hithaeglir) are the great north-south range of Middle-earth, along whose western foot the realm of Eregion was founded (with the Dwarfs’ delving of Khazad-dûm/Moria in their roots). In the Second Age they marked the eastern frontier of the western lands; their significance grows in the later ages (the Redhorn, the passes) — largely beyond this vault’s First-Age scope.
