The Pass
The High Pass was the old way across the Misty Mountains on the road from Rivendell to the East — a steep, stone clutter among the terrible peaks, where rain and lightning and the goblins of the deep waited for the traveller.
In the Quest
In the storm of thunder the company was caught in the pass, and were taken down into the goblin-halls where the Great Goblin ruled; only the killing of the king and the flight of the dwarves brought them again to the air and the Eagles’ rescue.
