The Dimrill Dale

the valley before the East-gate of Moria beneath the mountains

placedimrill dalemoriaazalnulbizar

The Dale

The Dimrill Dale was the broad valley before the East-gate of Moria, where the Silverlode poured forth and the mountain-river ran on to the woods — a green and shallow dale in the elder days, and in the later a desolate place of stones and rubble.

Its Memory

The name is remembered for the Battle of Azanulbizar, the great and grim field of the Dwarves; and from the Dimrill Dale the Fellowship of the Ring came out of the darkness of Moria into the daylight, before the last of the tally at the Falls of Rauros.
