The War
The Battle of Azanulbizar was the last and grimmest of the wars of the Dwarves and the Orcs, fought in the Dimrill-dale before the East-gate of Moria after the slaying of King Thrór; the Dwarves of all houses marched under the banners of Durin to avenge the murdered king.
The Slaughter
The battle was a murderous slaughter in the open vale; at last Dáin Ironfoot slew the Orc-chieftain Azog, and the goblins broke and fled. Yet so great were the Dwarves’ losses that they won no entry into the halls they had come to take, and the Mountain was left desolate, the feud of Azanulbizar long remembered.
