Names

The Mindeb is the name of a northern tributary of the great river Sirion.

Geography

The Mindeb rose in the dark heights of the Ered Gorgoroth near the Pass of Anach, and received a stiff stream that fell from the Crissaegrim, the peaks about Gondolin. Along its course Dimbar lay upon its western bank, while on the eastern side stood the valley of Nan Dungortheb and the eaves of the Forest of Neldoreth. In its lower reaches the river bordered Doriath and so was part of the Girdle of Melian, before it joined the Sirion.
