Name and Kind
The Fellbeasts were the vast and terrible flying creatures rode by the Ringwraiths of Mordor — featherless and vulture-like, with trailing claws and a cry that was like a shadow of death; they bore the Nazgûl over the battlefields, and their coming struck the army of the West with dread.
Their End
At the Black Gate they were beaten off by the coming of the Great Eagles under Gwaihir and Landroval, and when the One Ring fell and the dominion of Sauron was broken, the fell beasts wheeled once more into darkness and their master’s shadow was quenched.
