Rose Cotton; the wife of Samwise Gamgee and the mother of Elanor
Name and Story
Rose (Rose Cotton) was a Hobbiton lass of the Cotton family, the plump and practical young woman whom Samwise loved; she married him after the war and bore him their many children, of whom Elanor was the eldest.
Their Days
Their happy and long days, and Sam’s seven mayorships, were the quiet close of the Ring’s tale; Rose was the plain and good wife of the garden-master of the Shire, and the letter of her and Sam’s names passed into the family trees of the Fourth Age.
