The Inn
The Green Dragon was the old, comfortable inn of Hobbiton, standing by the water at the village’s end, where the hobbits of the four farthings met for beer and gossip and the talk of the Party.
In the Tale
It was famous in the sayings of the Shire (‘the Green Dragon’ was a byword of the good life), and in its yard Samwise stood watching the Rose of his love as the fates of the tale turned.
