The Tree
The Party Tree was the huge, old tree standing in the Party Field beneath the Hill at Hobbiton, where the great feasts of the Shire were kept; it was decorated with lanterns on the evening of the birthday.
The Celebration
Beneath it Bilbo made his farewell speech and vanished with the Ring; and in the days of the Scouring it stood again for the raising of the lights, when Samwise and the hobbits repledged the Shire to its own.
