The Iron Hills
the eastern land of the Dwarves of the line of Durin
The Land
The Iron Hills were the hills to the east of the Lonely Mountain where the Dwarves of the line of Durin had worked the rich ore since the days when the exiled folk of Durin held their eastern strongholds; Dáin Ironfoot was its lord, and his people were hardened and fierce, well-armed with iron.
The Marches
From the Iron Hills came the great wain of the host that turned the Battle of Five Armies, and in the War of the Ring its warriors withstood the armies of the East at the siege of Dale.
