Amon Hen
the Hill of the Eye; the Seat of Seeing above the Falls
The Hill
Amon Hen (Hill of the Eye) rose steeply above the western shore of the Anduin; on its crown stood the great stone Seat of Seeing, from which the king of old had looked east across the world. There, in the sight of the wide world, Frodo sat in the seat and saw far — even to the Eye of Mordor, which seemed to search for him.
The Breaking
Here the Fellowship was scattered: Boromir was slain by the Orcs in the hill’s woods defending the hobbits, Aragorn laid him in the boat of the Falls of Rauros, and Frodo went alone across the river toward the east with Samwise.
