The Downs
The North Downs were the long highlands north of the Shire and of Bree, the country of the old North-kingdom, over which the Dúnedain of the North kept their silent watch.
Their Desolation
Beneath their grassy crests lay the ruins and the graves of Arnor; the whisper of its fall hung over them, and no traveller of the roads willingly walked their lonely heights.
