The Stone
The Three-Farthing Stone was the tall, weathered milestone that stood upon the East Road where the boundaries of the Northfarthing, Southfarthing and Eastfarthing met the Westfarthing - the ancient marker of the centre of the Shire.
In the Tale
It was the point where the road out of the Shire truly parted from the little land; the travellers passed it with a glance, and the name was a byword of the hobbits’ shining world.
