The Family

The Brandybucks were the great family of the Buckland, dwelling at Brandy Hall by the Brandywine and holding the office of Master of Buckland through many generations; their name and their river-living gave the Shire its odd tales of the Old Forest and the water-folk.

In the Tale

Merry (Meriadoc Brandybuck) was a son of their house, and the family’s bolder border-spirit (like the Tooks’) was a seed of the adventures of the Ring.
